Plunked by Michael Northrop

Michael Northrop’s first middle grade novel, Plunked, is a page turning story about facing fears. Whether you are a baseball fan or not, this story will resonate with readers who face challenges, make mistakes, but eventually keep moving forward. And, Plunked has an authentic, sixth grade voice that will draw you in. There's humor, angst, and a totally originally fart story that made me laugh and cringe.

Cover copy for Plunked.

Jack Mogens thinks he’s got it all figured out: He has his batting routine down, and now that he’s in sixth grade, he has a lock on a starting spot in Little League. (Well, almost. Okay, not really. It’s a two-man race, though, so he has a shot.) And if he can manage to have a not-totally-embarrassing conversation with Katie, his team’s killer shortstop, he’ll be golden. But when a powerful stray pitch turns his world upside down, Jack discovers it’s going to take more than a love of baseball to get back his game.

Michael is the author of two young adult novels, Gentleman and Trapped, both of which I read and enjoyed. Trapped is like a frozen Breakfast Club with a little Lord of the Flies thrown in.

His third YA novel, Rotten, is due out April first. Yeah, I’m going to read that one, too.
Check out Michael’s blog.
Read his books.
And let’s hope he’s got another MG novel in the works!!

  1. I have not read any of Michael's books, so thanks for introducing him to me Paul. He looks like an author my son would love! I also love the sports books by Tom Green! :)
