ReplyDeleteThanks Natalie! I'm excited for you to read it, too!
DeleteSuch a fun series.
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite last line is from "A Rat's Tale" by Tor Seidler. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo I have to mention the line for it to count as an entry? I'd hate to spoil the ending. A nice payoff, character wise.
No pressure to include the line! But now I'm intrigued...
Delete"She took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and together they stepped out into the light."-StoryBound <3
ReplyDeleteAw, this makes me smile! Thank you!
DeleteI almost never remember the ending line to a novel. I can't think of a single one. I do remember how I feel when I reach the end, though.
ReplyDeleteYes! My favorites are when you feel so satisfied, like you just ate a perfect meal.
DeleteI'll go home. And I'll think of some way to get him back. After all... tomorrow is another day." --Gone with the Wind
ReplyDelete*Applause* Good pick!
Delete"All was well" - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hard to top that one.
DeleteMmmm... my memory isn't all that good with lines, I only recently started highlighting on my e-reader and then write some of them down.
ReplyDeleteIf there is something at the end of the book that makes me go back is the feelings it leaves me with, like Nighshade by Andre Cremer, her ending was cliffhangerish what is going to happen to the main character, will her struggle be all for nothing? will her sacrifice amount to nothing?
Or Tahere Mafi's Shatter Me, Warner is such a crazy and evil character I can't help to love, what is going to happen to him? How will Juliet grow? Will I end up hating her when in the first book I loved her so?
Does any of this rambling make any sense???
Definitely! I'm with you on the way cliffhangerish endings stick with you and keep you guessing.
Delete“And as He spoke, He no longer looked to them like a lion; but the things that began to happen after that were so great and beautiful that I cannot write them. And for us this the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on for ever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”
ReplyDelete--The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis
So beautiful. Love this.

ReplyDeleteOkay, here's the line-
ReplyDelete"Some rings hoop around the heart,
From a lover, or a friend;
But all are circles, once begin,
And none will ever end."
~ A Rat's Tale by Tor Seidler
Still, read the whole book, please. It's a great story, and this line means so much more, and worth reading, in context.
Congratulations on the upcoming release of
Story's End, Marissa. I recently sold my first MG novel, and the book I shared the last line from was the inspiration for mine.
Can't wait to share more on my blog when I'm further along the process.
Thanks so much, Taurean! I'm glad you popped back over to let us peek at the ending to A Rat's Tale. And congrats on the sale of your book! Hooray for great MG reads!
DeleteI just finished REQUIEM by Lauren Oliver.
ReplyDelete"I will make a pact with you: I will do it if you will do it, always and forever.
Take down the walls."
Nice. Embarrassingly, I have yet to read Lauren Oliver's books. I know! I know! So overdue.
DeleteLady Alethia was there, a terrible thing in her beauty, arrayed for battle and standing between Una and her father.
ReplyDelete:) Good pick. ;)
Deletethat was "STORYBOUND"
ReplyDeleteI knew I would never let go of this moment.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would never look back.
The Forgotten Locket by Lisa Mangum.
Thanks for this awesome contest!
I haven't heard of this one. But I like the sound of the title as well!
DeleteThis is from my son Stuart, who just read Storybound:
ReplyDelete"Your tale is yours to tell" (Storybound).
Aw, Steve, this makes me so happy to think of your little crew reading Storybound. :)
DeleteCongratulations Marissa! I can't WAIT to read this one!
