I'm thrilled to share with one lucky Mayhemer a copy of my debut novel, May B.
May is part Hatchet, part Little House on the Prairie, part Out of the Dust. It's a story of courage and hope
and is a great fit for reluctant readers.

    One courageous character that could come to mind is "Lucy" from "The Remarkable & Very True Story of Lucy & Snowcap".
    I hope I win. I've been chasing this book like forever. :)

    The more I hear about this book, the more I want to read it!

    I think most books have at least one courageous character, because the main character usually needs to take a risk. I just read Undergrounders by David Skuy (a great hockey story). It's about a street boy who has to be courageous every day to survive.

    Not sure if oblivion of childhood is quite the same as bravery, but it sure SEEMS brave for Little Sal in McCloskey's "Blueberries for Sal" to not scream at the sight of the mama bear -- when both her mother and the mama bear ran away from baby bear and Sal, respectively.

    A courageous character? I would say Stargirl. It takes a lot of courage to be yourself instead of just trying to fit in.
